About me, at a Glance
I'm Ikbal Mahmud, a senior product designer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with over five years of experience designing digital products across healthcare, SaaS, and consumer mobile. I currently lead product design at 6Sense Technologies and take on select remote contracts — most recently a long-term engagement with Migranium in Ontario, Canada.
My process starts with understanding the problem before touching Figma. I use research — user interviews, task analysis, competitive reviews, and analytics — to build a clear picture of what's broken and why. From there I move quickly through concepts and wireframes, testing early and often, iterating until the design earns its place in the product.
I care about handoff. Good design that doesn't ship is wasted work. I write detailed specs, maintain shared component libraries, and stay close to engineering during implementation to make sure what gets built matches what was designed. I've built one design system from scratch and worked within several others.
At the senior level, I think my job is less about making things look good and more about making the right decisions fast — knowing when to push back, when to move on, and when a design problem is actually a product problem in disguise.

Senior designer on a SaaS scheduling platform for the Canadian market. Designed the core booking system, availability management, and waitlist UX from initial research through to shipped product. Worked asynchronously with a cross-timezone team of developers and a principal designer.

Sole product designer for a telemedicine platform serving patients and clinicians across Bangladesh. Designed the end-to-end patient-facing and clinician-facing experience, and built Valere Velvate — the company's first design system — from scratch in Figma. Collaborated with a team of 12 across engineering, clinical, and product.
