Challange
Upon joining Valere Healthcare, I noticed the absence of a design system, leading to inconsistencies across the patient app, clinician dashboard, and marketing site. Components varied, brand colors were inconsistent, and typography lacked agreement, resulting in developers recreating the same button in different ways.
Result
As the sole designer responsible for multiple product surfaces, I was also the person best placed to fix this. Building a design system from scratch while also leading active product design is a balancing act. The system had to be useful immediately—not a six-month abstraction project—so I prioritized the components used most frequently in the product and built outward from there.
